Following the usual selection process, the RDA Steering Committee (RSC) is delighted to welcome Dr Getaneh Alemu as Wider Community Engagement Officer (WCEO) Elect.
Getaneh Alemu completed his PhD from the University of Portsmouth (2014), where he developed a theory of metadata enriching and filtering using a grounded theory method. He also holds an MA in Digital Library Learning (Oslo University College, 2009), an MA in Knowledge and Information Management (Ghent University, 2005) and a BA in Library and Information Science (Addis Ababa University, 2001).
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Robert L. Maxwell as RSC Chair Elect.
At our July Meeting, the RDA Steering Committee was pleased to welcome for the first time the RSC Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, Filiberto Felipe Arellano.

RSC Chair Renate Behrens would like to thank those who have responded to our call for a new Wider Community Engagement Officer (WCEO) to succeed Charlene Chou (pictured) when her second term ends in December.
Ahava Cohen holds a doctorate in Information Science from Bar Ilan University, where she focused on implementations of RDA in academic libraries. She is head of the Cataloguing Section at the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem and serves on the steering committees of the Israeli Union List and the Israeli National Authority File. Ahava teaches cataloguing and technical services courses in the MLIS program at David Yellin College and provides training for public libraries through the Israel Center for Libraries.
