EURIG Survey on RDA Implementation: Initial Results
At yesterday's Joint Meeting of the RDA Board and RDA Steering Committee, Hannes Lowagie, the National Institution Representative for Europe to the RDA Board, provided an overview of his initial analysis of EURIG's survey. He will share more in the EURIG Meeting in May, but for now you can view the slides here.
Unsurprisingly, given EURIG's membership, the majority of responders were managers from national libraries, but there were representatives from other sectors. The survey was conducted between January and March this year, with 45 responses in total, including some who are not using RDA, which Hannes pointed out was important data. All materials were being catalogued, with uptake particularly notable in the Rare Books and Special Collections Community. Hannes expressed his personal surprise at this, although members of the RSC found this understandable, given the amount of work undertaken by the RBMS DCRM Editorial Group, creating DCRMR and adding Policy Statements within the RDA Toolkit.
Hannes reported his next steps ahead of the EURIG meeting will be to compare the EURIG data to that collected by Anastasia Kerameos and Will Peaden in their UK survey, which was published in Catalogue & Index in December 2025.
We have added a new section at the top of our Implementing Official RDA webpage entitled 'How Widespread is Implementation of Official RDA?' If you are aware of any information from your area that we should include here, we would be very grateful to know about it - please email RSC Secretary Anne Welsh - RSCsecretary@rdatoolkit.org
