Jack Ennis Butler, RSC Representative for Oceania

Jack Ennis Butler is currently Metadata and Discovery Librarian at CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) in Australia. He has worked in special and research libraries and at the National Library of Australia in a variety of roles including cataloguing and reference. He has also worked in the university sector supporting the delivery of metadata courses.
He holds a Master of Information Studies (Records and Archives Management) and has professional memberships with the Australian Library and Information Association and the Australian Society of Archivists, for which he is a committee member of the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) Branch. In addition, he has completed degrees in Linguistics and Contemporary Languages.
Jack joined the Oceania RDA Committee (ORDAC) in 2023 as a co-opted member and was Oceania RSC Backup Representative until October 2025 when he stepped into the role of Oceania Representative to the RSC, with an initial term until October 2027.
