Welcome to Bridget Jennings, Back-up RSC Representative to Oceania
On behalf of the RDA Steering Committee, Oceania Representative Jack Ennis-Butler and RSC Chair Renate Behrens are delighted to welcome Bridget Jennings (pictured) as the Back-up RSC Representative to Oceania.
In the usual order of things, as well as stepping in if there are illnesses or other reasons for absence, the Back-up Representative follows the current Representative to become a voting member of the RSC, and ORDAC has a strong tradition of treating the post as a training one. We have seen the benefits of this when Jack had to step in quickly this Autumn.
Bridget is a Senior Cataloguing Specialist at Wellington City Libraries in Aotearoa New Zealand. She has worked in the public library space for nearly twenty years, fourteen of those as a cataloguer. She is a member of LIANZA Te Rau Herenga o Aotearoa and joined ORDAC in November 2022 as LIANZA Cataloguing Special Interest Group representative, and one of her current areas of interest is Indigenous knowledge organisation.
Bridget is a familiar colleague to the rest of the RSC, since she is a regular online observer at RSC Meetings, and is one of the ORDAC members who contributed to their successful proposal for dual-language names. Renate said "I am really glad to see Bridget stepping into the Back-up role. Her committee work is well-known to us and it is excellent to see ORDAC's continued commitment to First Nations continues. The whole RDA cataloguing community has need of such expertise."
Jack is very happy to welcome Bridget to her new role. He has enjoyed collaborating with her on the ORDAC Committee, and is looking forward to working with her to represent Oceania's communities to the RSC.
