Charlotte Christensen Passes the Baton to Jack Ennis Butler as RSC Representative to Oceania

The RSC Chair and Secretary were very sad to hear from ORDAC Chair Michela Goodwin that Charlotte Christensen is having to step down from the RSC to focus on her health. Charlotte has been a very active member of the RSC, seeing Oceania's first proposal, RSC/Oceania/2024/1 on Dual-language Naming of Corporate Body and Place from inception through constituency consultation, RSC discussion, and, ultimately, implementation of RSC/Oceania/2024/1/rev/Decisions in the latest Toolkit release on 9 October 2025.
Charlotte is also a popular speaker, having shared the National Library of New Zealand's experiences implementing Official RDA at venues including the RSC Outreach Day at the Library of Congress in 2024 and virtually at NARDAC, EURIG and, of course, ORDAC events - you can find links to her outreach activities on her RSC webpage.
We asked Charlotte whether she wanted us to mention that she was stepping back because of her health, and, in a typically kind and considerate way, she said she would prefer people to know that she has treatment coming up that means a lot of travelling (because New Zealand is more geographically large than people outside Oceania tend to appreciate) and this, plus her day job and family commitments mean she has to step back from the RSC for now. She doesn't want people to worry about her, but she will, as always, be happy to hear from friends in the RDA cataloguing community. She can be reached at her National Library of New Zealand email address or her personal one, if you are privy to that. RSC Secretary Anne Welsh will be pleased to forward good wishes from anyone who is unsure how to contact her directly.
RSC Chair Renate Behrens said, "Charlotte has made a great contribution to the RSC. We were delighted when she was reappointed by ORDAC for a second term and I was looking forward to working with her through to the end of my own term as Chair."
Renate also expressed her thanks to ORDAC for moving swiftly to inform us that former Backup Representative Jack Ennis Butler would be stepping in immediately as RSC Representative to Oceania in time for our November Meeting.
If you are a member of the Oceania RDA cataloguing community, Jack is now your first point of contact for the RSC. You can find out more about him on his webpage and you can email him at jack@rdatoolkit.org
