Changes to RDA Governance in the UK

Members of the Committee of Principals and JSC have looked at the options for the transition to Europe regional representation in the new governance structure for RDA. It is clear that the European RDA Interest Group, EURIG (http://www.slainte.org.uk/eurig/), would be the ideal body to take forward the representation of the needs of RDA communities in Europe.

The Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA (JSC) will meet Nov. 2-6, 2015, in Edinburgh, Scotland, at the National Library of Scotland.

RDA/ONIX Guidelines and Linked Data

The RDA/ONIX Framework for Resource Categorization (5JSC/Chair/10) is the basis for terms in the RDA carrier, content, and media type vocabularies. Each term is related to a set of Framework attributes covering the basic carrier and content categories. The Framework also provides a mechanism for extending and refining the categories.

RDA Elements Table and Registry Updated

The RDA element analysis table and the RDA Registry have been updated in line with the April 2015 release of RDA Toolkit.

The JSC has reviewed the RDA element analysis table and made several changes to its scope and layout. Information that is more appropriate in an Application Profile has been removed, along with place-holder entries that are no longer required.
