Trina Soderquist Appointed as RSC Representative Elect to North America
On behalf of the RDA Steering Committee, Chair Renate Behrens extended her congratulations to the North American RDA Committee (NARDAC) on their appointment as Trina Soderquist as RSC Representative Elect. Trina will succeed Robert L. Maxwell as the RSC Representative to North America on 1 January 2026, when Robert himself will assume the post of RSC Chair Elect.
Trina is currently a Cataloging Policy Specialist in the Policy, Training, and Cooperative Programs Division (PTCP) at the Library of Congress (LC) in Washington, D.C., United States. Prior to this she was a cataloger for the Children’s and Young Adults’ Cataloging Program (CYAC), also at LC. Before joining LC in 2016, she worked for over a decade in special academic libraries in the Boston, Massachusetts, area.
She has worked with policy specialists and librarians at LC and in the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) on reviewing and developing the LC-PCC policy statements and Metadata Guidance Documents (MGDs) that will guide cataloguers in those communities as they apply the options in the official RDA Toolkit. She was the LC liaison to the PCC RDA Communications Committee until recently, collecting and acting on feedback about the LC-PCC policy statements and MGDs. From February 2022 until November 2023, as a member of another PCC task group, she helped design, conduct, and evaluate the PCC Test of the Official RDA Toolkit. Since 2023, she has been a member of the PCC RDA Implementation Task Group, working to resolve outstanding questions about the PCC’s implementation of the official RDA Toolkit.
Renate Behrens said "We are delighted to hear of Trina's appointment, and are looking forward to working with her from 1 January. Her experience working with the PCC will be a great asset to the RSC - continuing in the tradition of previous post-holders, Robert Maxwell and Thomas Brenndorfer."
