The Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA will meet November 3-7, 2014 in Washington, D.C.
Sessions will be held from 8:30-17:30 at the American Library Association's Washington office. Observers are welcome at open sessions and are encouraged to attend. The committee meets in closed executive sessions at the beginning and end of the week.
In accordance with 6JSC/Policy/1 Statement of policy and procedures for JSC, the deadline for submitting proposals and discussion papers for the development of RDA is three months before the JSC annual meeting. For 2014, the deadline date is 4 August 2014.
Three new members have joined JSC working groups following their nomination by EURIG, the European RDA Interest Group. They are:
The RDA Toolkit Technical Committee has updated the website of rdaregistry.info, the namespace of the RDA element sets. The website provides access to the element sets as well as examples and datasets which use RDA elements, and maps between RDA elements and other namespaces. The maps include one between elements for RDA relationship designators and the MARC relator codes.
The Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA discussed 48 proposals and discussion papers at its November 2013 meeting. A table with a summary of the actions taken by the JSC is available for consultation until the final versions of the approved proposals are posted on this site in early February 2014.
Galen Jones joined the Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA (JSC) on January 1, 2014. He replaced Gordon Dunsire, now the Chair of JSC, as the representative of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).
