2014 JSC Meeting
The Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA will meet November 3-7, 2014 in Washington, D.C.
Sessions will be held from 8:30-17:30 at the American Library Association's Washington office. Observers are welcome at open sessions and are encouraged to attend. The committee meets in closed executive sessions at the beginning and end of the week.
2014 Deadline for JSC Proposals and Discussion Papers
In accordance with 6JSC/Policy/1 Statement of policy and procedures for JSC, the deadline for submitting proposals and discussion papers for the development of RDA is three months before the JSC annual meeting. For 2014, the deadline date is 4 August 2014.
New JSC Working Group Members from EURIG
Three new members have joined JSC working groups following their nomination by EURIG, the European RDA Interest Group. They are:
RDA Registry Website
The RDA Toolkit Technical Committee has updated the website of rdaregistry.info, the namespace of the RDA element sets. The website provides access to the element sets as well as examples and datasets which use RDA elements, and maps between RDA elements and other namespaces. The maps include one between elements for RDA relationship designators and the MARC relator codes.
2013 Approved RDA Proposals
The final versions of the proposals approved by the Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA during and after its November 2013 meeting have been posted on this web site. See the "Sec final" documents listed in the table of new working documents or consult a specific proposal in the constituency proposals section.
2013 JSC Meeting Documents: Outcomes
The Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA discussed 48 proposals and discussion papers at its November 2013 meeting. A table with a summary of the actions taken by the JSC is available for consultation until the final versions of the approved proposals are posted on this site in early February 2014.
Publication of the RDA Element Vocabularies
The Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA (JSC), Metadata Management Associates, and ALA Publishing (on behalf of the co-publishers of RDA) are pleased to announce that the RDA elements and relationship designators have been published in the Open Metadata Registry (OMR) as Resource Description Framework (RDF) element sets suitable for linked data and semantic Web applications.
New CILIP JSC member
Galen Jones joined the Joint Steering Committee for Development of RDA (JSC) on January 1, 2014. He replaced Gordon Dunsire, now the Chair of JSC, as the representative of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP).

Troy Linker and James Hennelly, representing ALA Publishing, also attended; eleven other observers also attended the public sessions of the meeting.
