RSC Outreach Event in Madrid: "Preparing for the new RDA Toolkit"

On Monday, 23 October 2017, the RDA Steering Committee (RSC) will host "Preparing for the new RDA Toolkit," a half-day (morning) outreach event at the Biblioteca Nacional de España in Madrid. The agenda will include an update on the 3R Project (RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign Project) as well as brief discussions of some of the most pressing issues in RDA redevelopment.

Broadening the appeal of RDA through the 3R Project and RDA Governance

The RDA Board reaffirm their commitment to the changes being made to improve the structure of the Toolkit as part of the RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign Project, also known as the 3R Project, and the continuing implementation of the new Governance model.

Meeting with Specialist Cataloguing Communities

Members of the RDA Steering Committee (RSC) will be meeting with representatives from specialist cataloguing communities (cartographic, A-V, rare materials, archives, etc.) on June 26 in Chicago during the ALA Annual Conference.

Special RDA Event in Chicago May 16, 2017

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) cordially invites interested catalogers and metadata application developers to a special, one-day event of focused discussion of some of the current challenges for RDA.

2016 Approved RDA Proposals

The final versions of the proposals approved by the RDA Steering Committee during and after the November 2016 meeting have been posted on this website. Access to these "Sec final" documents is available via the new documents page (http://rda-rsc.org/newrscdocs).

The changes in RDA will not be in effect until they appear in the April 2017 Update of RDA Toolkit.

Implementation of the LRM in RDA

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) agreed at its November 2016 meeting to adopt the draft IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM) as a conceptual model for the development of RDA: Resource Description and Access, replacing the Functional Requirements family of models (FRBR, FRAD, and FRSAD) that are superseded by the LRM.
