Save the Date: FREE Online Workshop on RDA Implementation

Although there is no in-person meeting of the RSC this year, we are pleased to announce that our usual outreach and training event will go ahead on Thursday 19 November at 19:00 - 21:00 UTC (There is a handy time converter here). 

Registration will open soon. For now, here is a taste of the programme that Education and Orientation Officer Elisa Sze (pictured) and RSC Examples Editor Jessica Grzegorski have convened.

• Michaela Edelmann from the DNB (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek) will present on the development of German language RDA examples for the DACH (Germany (D), Austria (A), Switzerland (CH)) Region. (The Implementing Official RDA webpage links to earlier presentations on the DACH implementation in general, but this presentation will focus on the creation of examples for the DACH Manual)
• El Grupo RDA México will share their experience training their cataloguers. (Serie Conceptos RDA is well attended and builds on Mexico's long tradition in RDA cataloguing to get ready for Official RDA)
• Keith Knop will share learnings from the training he has provided. The Music Library Association (the US branch of  IAML (the International Association of Music Libraries, Archives, and Documentation Centres)) makes Policy Statements available in the RDA Toolkit and has been active in training for music cataloguing in Official RDA

Jessica will also provide an overview of the process for creating and reviewing examples, and is keen for participants to leave with the message that it is possible to translate examples from the English language but it is equally possible for language communities to create their own examples for use in their translation of RDA. 

Most importantly, there will be plenty of opportunity for participants to ask questions. 

With the November RSC Public Session taken up by discussion of proposals, we hope that this outreach session will prove popular. As usual, a recording will be made available for those for whom the time zone is outside normal working hours.
