Final Proposals on Soft-deprecated Elements Out for Constituency Review

Technical Team Liaison Officer Chris Holden (pictured) has submitted the final two proposals dealing with soft-deprecated terms for discussion in the Public Session of the November Meeting of the RSC. 

RSC/TechnicalWG/2026/5 presents ideas for the deprecation of most "notes on" elements and the reorganization of those that remain. It has many pages, but please do not that this is because there are many edits required to other Toolkit element pages in order to deprecate the "notes on" terms - the principles are set out clearly in the main recommendations with edits to other pages as sub-recommendations. 

RSC/TechnicalWG/2026/6 suggests the deprecation of parallel elements. The Technical Working Group is aware that some members of the wider RDA cataloguing community are keen to retain these elements, and points to the opportunity to retain this as a local practice - the proposed deprecation of these elements would see them moved to the Legacy section of the Toolkit, where Policy Statement writers can refer to them if needed.
