Dual qualified in Information Studies (MSc (Econ), Aberystwyth) and Publishing (MA, West Dean), Anne is a sole trader who lives in the London/Essex borders and works under the brand Beginning Cataloguing.

With three decades of experience documenting special collections and over a decade as the author of bestselling books on Cataloguing, today she provides cataloguing and metadata services, training and consultancy for libraries, publishers and a few select individuals. As a volunteer, Anne is Honorary Secretary of CILIP Metdata and Discovery Group. She is also a co-opted member of the BIC Library Metadata Group and the UK Committee on RDA (UKCoR).

Anne is an editorial consultant to ALA Digital Reference and the Secretary of the RDA Steering Committee (RSC), a non-voting position concerned with organising meetings and implementing the decisions of the RSC in the RDA Toolkit. She became Secretary-Elect in June 2022, and succeeded Linda Barnhart as RSC Secretary on 1 January 2023, for an initial period of three years. As a paid role, the term of the RSC Secretary is determined by the Director of ALA Digital Reference and the RSC Chair.
