April Public Session, Including Presentation on Danish Implementation

RSC Chair Renate Behrens is looking forward to welcoming Camilla Riis Petersen, Bibliographic Consultant, DBC Digital (pictured), to speak at the next Public Session of the RSC, on Tuesday 28 April at 18:00 - 20:00 UTC (There is a handy time converter here).

In this presentation, Camilla will revisit and update the themes introduced by her colleague Hanne Hørl Hansen at EURIG 2025 in her talk on The Danish RDA Implementation and Its Entities.

Denmark is currently undertaking the implementation of RDA, a development that will have a major impact on the national bibliography and on all public and research libraries contributing to the union catalogue.

This is a large-scale project. Beyond a far-reaching technical implementation that affects cataloguing workflows at every level, it also involves the development of a new Danish data model, a Danish RDA manual, and a new national format, danMARC3.

A key principle of the implementation is that Denmark will adopt only those parts of RDA that add clear value in a Danish context. This principle is crucial in determining which entities are included in the Danish RDA model and how they are treated.

Following Camilla's presentation and Q&A (Questions & Answers), the RSC will be discussing the three proposals:

  • RSC/TranslationsTLO/2026/1 - Proposal on adding new elements, applicable to rare and old materials, to the RDA Toolkit, the corresponding new definitions to the Glossary, and the corresponding new properties to RDA Registry
  • RSC/TechnicalWG/2026/1 - Soft-deprecated elements related to Manifestation: material
  • RSC/TechnicalWG/2026/2 - Soft-deprecated elements: “Details” elements

The full agenda will be available soon.

If you would like to attend the meeting as an observer, please email RSC Secretary Anne Welsh (RSCsecretary@rdatoolkit.org), who will be happy to send you joining instructions (including Zoom link) close to the date of the meeting. (Please note: only Camilla's presentation will be recorded and shared after the event. In order to allow for the free exchange of ideas, the rest of the meeting will not be recorded, but minutes will be circulated as soon as possible after the close of the RSC Meeting).
