Ready for Constituency Review: RSC/TranslationsTLO/2026/2

In its April 2026 Meeting, the RSC approved most of the terms proposed in RSC/TranslationsTLO/2026/1, with the proviso that its implementation be delayed until the set of terms dealing with scribe agent, etc. could be discussed further and the new term suggested in constituency consultation (wood engraver agent, etc.) from the English language regions could be considered by the RDA cataloguing community as a whole. 

Translations Team Liaison Officer Szabolcs Dancs (pictured) has submitted a follow-up proposal on which he will be grateful for feedback. He was assisted in its preparation by Jack Ennis-Butler, Ahava Cohen, Trina Soderquist and Elisa Sze. There has already been an interesting debate around the location of wood engraver agent, etc. terms in the hierarchy of terms: in Western Historical Bibliography, wood engraving is used in relief printing, which is different from the intaglio printing which results from other forms of engraving (e.g. copper-plate). As Technical Team Liaison Officer Chris Holden put it when checking the proposal for technical implications, it will be very interesting to see what the international rare books community feedback is, and whether there might be implications for the the terms approved in RSC/TranslationsTLO/2026/1 (woodcutter agent, etc.) and / or for the definitions of engraver agent, etc. terms already published in the Toolkit and Registry.
