3R Project

Recording Available: RDA Beta Site Demo

Starting later this month, we will present bi-monthly demos of the beta site. The demos will walk users through the new beta site. The demos will be hosted on the GoTo Meeting platform which will only allow 100 attendees to login at the time of the demo. We will not take registrations for the demos. We will open up the webinar 15 minutes prior to the start time. This will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. These demos will be recorded and posted online afterwards.

The RDA Steering Committee (RSC) met in October on the campus of McGill University in Montréal, Québec. This week the RSC posted key documents describing the events and outcomes of that meeting. The most important outcome of the meeting is the announcement that  the English language version of the revised RDA standard will stabilize in April 2019. Statement on Instruction Numbering jhennelly Fri, 07/06/2018 - 13:20

The publishers of RDA Toolkit and the RDA Steering Committee have been closely monitoring feedback on the new RDA Toolkit beta site. Based on comments provided via the online form, public forums, and various discussion lists, it has become clear that the absence of instruction numbers is challenging for some users, especially those involved in cataloging training and education. This issue does not come as a surprise to those of us involved in the 3R Project. It is one we have been discussing and debating for the last two years.

Where Did It Go? jhennelly Mon, 07/02/2018 - 02:19

The new beta Toolkit includes some significant differences in how the instructions are organized and arranged. Some may have trouble locating where some instructions have moved to. Linda Barnhart, the RSC Secretary, and Kate James, the RDA Examples Editor, prepared the document linked to below contains a partial list of elements and instructions that have changed from the original Toolkit to the beta Toolkit. Download this document as an introduction to how the instructions have been reorganized.
