Introduction to RDA: a Webinar Series for African Cataloguers

The RDA Steering Committee is pleased to host an introductory RDA webinar series for African cataloguers. This program will introduce attendees to foundational terminology and concepts found in Resource Description and Access (RDA), an international standard used for cataloguing and bibliographic data creation, and that is based on the IFLA Library Reference Model.

This program will be presented in two parts:

Part 1: Monday July 13, 2026 at 14:00 to 15:00 London/Nigeria time (UTC +1) / 15:00 to 16:00 South Africa time (UTC +2) / 16:00 to 17:00 Addis Ababa and Egypt time (UTC +3)

 Part 2: Tuesday July 14, 2026 at 14:00 to 15:00 London/Nigeria time (UTC +1) / 15:00 to 16:00 South Africa time (UTC +2) / 16:00 to 17:00 Addis Ababa and Egypt time (UTC +3)

Event host: Getaneh Alemu, Wider Community Engagement Officer, RDA Steering Committee and Cataloguing & Metadata Librarian, Solent University, in Southampton, United Kingdom.

Trainer: Elisa Sze, Education and Orientation Officer, RDA Steering Committee and Metadata Librarian at the University of Toronto, in Toronto, Canada.

This program is free to attend but registration is required. Attendees do not need to have prior experience with RDA, though familiarity with local cataloguing practices would be beneficial.
