RDA in Translation - Hungarian

The Hungarian translation of RDA is being developed by the Hungarian Library Institute at the National Széchényi Library since 2017. Since then, the Institute has translated the Registry, and is planning to release the full translation of the Toolkit by the end of 2026. This effort is a part of a greater transition to semantic cataloguing.

The Institute is working together with the RDA-HU Working Group, the National Committee for Library Standardization, and the Hungarian Library and Information Science Library. This collaboration ensures that RDA fits into the long history of Hungarian library sciences, that the translation does not conflict with existing terminologies, and that the adoption of RDA in the fragmented system of Hungarian libraries can be as wide as possible.
