Free Webinar: What To Know About the Countdown Clock

RSC Chair Renate Behrens (pictured), RDA publisher James Hennelly and RSC Chair Elect Robert L. Maxwell are looking forward to welcoming you to a webinar on 19 May 2026 to check in with everyone's progress on the Countdown Clock. 

After brief presentations from James and Renate to bring everyone up-to-speed on the Countdown itself and where the text of the Original Toolkit is going in May 2027, there will be time for a few questions from attendees, before we hear from RSC Chair Elect Robert L. Maxwell, live from the Utah Library Association Conference. 

Robert will be RSC Chair from 1 January 2027, so having begun the transition with one of Europe's best-known cataloguing educators in the Chair, we will end with one of North America's most distinguished writers and educators. 

This will be a short webinar to mark the start of the transition from Original to Official RDA, and is just the first of a range proposed to encourage and support cataloguers throughout the process. Please save the date for 19 November when Education and Orientation Officer Elisa Sze and RDA Examples Editor Jessica Grzegorski will lead a longer interactive session on the topic. 

Events are also being planned for Latin America and the Caribbean (in the Spanish language) and Oceania and we will share details as soon as they are finalised. ALA Digital Reference will also be sending email updates to Toolkit subscribers throughout the year highlighting events and information for those making the move to Official RDA before Original RDA sunsets on 11 May 2027.
