A new release of the beta RDA Toolkit was published on December 15th. The release marks the end of the RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign Project, commonly known as the 3R Project. With this release the beta Toolkit site that debuted in 2018 becomes the official RDA Toolkit, available at access.rdatoolkit.org. The original RDA Toolkit will remain available to all subscribers at original.rdatoolkit.org. The original site can also be accessed from the new Toolkit through the Resources tab and from the top banner menu bar. For a fuller explanation of the impact of the switchover of the beta site and how to prepare to transition to the post-3R RDA, see "RDA Toolkit Switchover: Beta Toolkit Becomes Official RDA" from the RDA Steering Committee and "What You Should Know about the December Switchover" from our blog.

The release includes minor fixes and improvements to RDA Toolkit functionality, updates to the Norwegian translation and to policy statements from the British Library and the U.S. Library of Congress. For an explanation of notable changes to the RDA text in this release see Notes on the December 15, 2020 RDA Toolkit Release.

In addition to the release this week, there are two other significant changes to RDA-related services. The RDA Registry now includes an alignment from MARC to RDA. Learn more about this feature here. The RDA-L discussion list will move to the ALA Connect platform on December 18th. This move will improve the performance and reliability of the list, but it will require most to register for a free ALA Connect account in order to rejoin the RDA-L list. Learn how to register for RDA-L here.
