Shape the New RDA Toolkit at Midwinter

The RDA Toolkit Redesign Update and Preview is an interactive pre-conference event focused on the direction and progress of the 3R (RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign) Project. The day-long event will allow attendees to hear from and engage with RDA experts and insiders. Attendees will explore and critique changes to the Toolkit and address new concepts from the IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM) and how these and other key concepts will be implemented in RDA.

The program will include…

  • James Hennelly, Director of RDA Toolkit, will provide an in-depth preview of the new Toolkit design and functionality.
  • Ed Jones, National University, will cover the emerging concept of diachronic works and the implications for serials cataloging.
  • Amanda Sprochi, University of Missouri, will describe the challenges of the revised definition of “person” and the ramifications for cataloging non-human personages.
  • Kathy Glennan, University of Maryland, will differentiate and discuss name elements and the new access point elements.
  • Kate James, Library of Congress, will unscramble attributes and relationships.
  • David Reser, Library of Congress, will introduce the new LRM element, timespan.
