RDA Online Orientation Series

RDA is bringing back the New Concept series that debuted last July. The series is part of the RDA Online Orientation Project that provides an introduction to the many changes to RDA and RDA Toolkit introduced during the 3R Project.  

The New Concept Series of five webinars explores both new entities introduced by the IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM) and other key concepts. This series includes the following presentations:

On August 21 of this year, the European RDA Interest Group, along with the IFLA Cataloguing Section and the IFLA Committee on Standards, sponsored an IFLA World Library and Information Congress satellite meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, at the Central Library of Aristotle University. The program covered a wide range of RDA topics and included speakers from Africa, Europe and North America.

Starting later this month, we will present bi-monthly demos of the beta site. The demos will walk users through the new beta site. The demos will be hosted on the GoTo Meeting platform which will only allow 100 attendees to login at the time of the demo. We will not take registrations for the demos. We will open up the webinar 15 minutes prior to the start time. This will be on a first-come-first-serve basis. These demos will be recorded and posted online afterwards.

RDA Online Orientation Series

The English language version of RDA stabilized in April 2019. In July, the RDA Online Orientations, a program of educational events, will roll out. These events will provide an introduction to illustrative examples of the many changes to RDA and RDA Toolkit introduced during the 3R Project.

Citation Numbering Arrives jhennelly Wed, 05/22/2019 - 00:30

Citation numbering has been added to the beta site in response to a user need to reference RDA passages in print materials and other non-digital communications. 

The format for these numbers is XX.XX.XX.XX. The numbers are random, permanent, and searchable. 

Numbers will be accessible from the popup tool bar. Simply highlight text for which you want a citation number. This will bring up the popup toolbar.

On April 30, there will be a major update to the RDA Toolkit BETA site that will include a stabilized version of the English test as well as added and improved functionality to the BETA site. A detailed announcement about this release is coming. However, join us on May 10 for a free 90-minute webinar that will review the impact of the April 30 update. You'll learn about the new entities and concepts that have emerged from the IFLA Library Reference Model and the restructuring of the RDA standard. You'll also be provided with a demo of the new BETA site's functionality and features.
