RDA Toolkit Pricing

Subscriptions to the RDA Toolkit

The solo-user subscription is for single-user environments where access to the RDA Toolkit is not shared with other individuals in the same institution. By contrast, the site subscription is designed for multi-user environments where one concurrent user (with the option to add additional concurrent users) is shared with an unlimited number of individuals within the same institution.

Pricing is provided in the following major currencies: U.S. dollars (USD); Canadian dollars (CAD); British pounds (GBP); Australian dollars (AUD); euros (EUR); and Singapore dollars (SGD). Please note that local taxes (and exemptions) will be applied as required by law.

Double-User Offer

A double-user offer for those who subscribe at any site subscription level to the RDA Toolkit before August 31, 2011. During the evaluation and initial implementation of RDA when users are likely to need more frequent concurrent access, subscribers will receive double the purchased number of concurrent users of the RDA Toolkit at no additional charge for their first subscription period. (For example, buy a 2-user site license but get a 4-user license for no additional cost.)

Consortia and Group Subscriptions

In working with consortia and central purchasing groups, we have found that there are so many different models and requirements that there is no one pricing model we can apply. We are applying the same formulas where requirements are similar, and will work with each group to meet their specific needs, volume, purchasing, accounting, and other systems and procedures. Overall, pricing will be fairly applied based on the specific criteria each consortium or group presents.

If you are interested in subscription pricing for consortia or other centralized purchasing groups, please contact us at rdatoolkit@ala.org with "Consortium" or "Group purchase" in the subject line and provide some basic information about your group. The more answers to these questions you can include, the more efficiently we will be able to serve you. RDA Toolkit staff will follow up with you on receipt of your message.

RDA Print

Full-text loose-leaf print versions of both RDA: Resource Description and Access and RDA: Element Set View. While most users agree the preferred way to interact with RDA is online via the RDA Toolkit, the Co-Publishers will offer the full text of RDA in print (including an index) as well as online, to help ensure that RDA reaches the widest possible audience. In addition to these print items in English, the Co-Publishers will work with publishing partners to distribute translations of them to supplement translations offered in the RDA Toolkit online.

The process for purchasing RDA print products will be similar to how AACR2 products were purchased. The RDA print products will be available directly from each of the Co-Publishers (ALA, CLA, CILIP) as well as through various retailers, wholesalers, and distributors. More information about RDA print products is coming fall 2010.

Training and Classroom Access

To allow for training of future and current catalogers and other metadata professionals who need to become familiar with RDA, we are offering access to the RDA Toolkit at special pricing. The institution must purchase a subscription that matches its ongoing cataloging needs and then inform RDA Toolkit staff via the RDA Toolkit Support Center of the number of additional users needed for the given training day or class period. RDA Toolkit access will be granted for that period to the additional users at no additional charge. If an institution does not yet subscribe, but wants access for LIS or other training, the site license base price of $325USD (or the equivalent if purchased in another currency) will apply.
