The details of the December release follow.
The release contained Fast Track changes from the JSC, as well as corrections and new relationship designators in appendix K. Details on these December changes and past changes can be found on the JSC site in the Secretary Document Series.
Library of Congress-Program for Cooperative Cataloging Policy Statements (LC-PCC PS) were revised and updated, primarily to record decisions made by the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC). A complete list of the revised LC-PCC PSs is available on the Library of Congress website.
This release also included the first addition of “reworded” chapters. In 2011 the US RDA Test Committee recommended implementation of RDA on the condition that several goals be met, including a rewording of the RDA text so that it would be clearer and more accessible to its cataloging audience. This release included the first reworded chapters—6, 9, 10 and 11. These four chapters were copyedited by Chris Oliver and reviewed by both the JSC and the US RDA Test Committee. Learn more about the rewording project and see the schedule for the roll out of the remaining reworded chapters here.
The Help Guide was revised and updated.
A number of new links were added to the display of AACR2. Included are links to the following resources found on Cataloger’s Desktop—MARC description, Cartographic Materials (CM), Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials-Books (DCRMB), and Library of Congress Rule Interpretations (LCRI). There are also links to Library and Archives Canada Rule Interpretations (LAC RI) found on the LAC website. Learn more about AACR2 on RDA Toolkit.
With the addition of extensive links in the AACR2 display, RDA Toolkit expanded its user preference options to include the ability to turn on and off the display of links, including the option to turn off LC-PCC PS links in the RDA display. The default position is for all links to display.
The release included corrections to several minor typos and bugs in the RDA Toolkit user interface.
The next RDA Toolkit release is scheduled for February 12, 2013. There is no release scheduled for January 2013.
